What You Should NOT Do After Botox

So you finally did yourself a favor and you finally went to your dermatologist to check on your face and see if a botox treatment is in order. Don’t worry, you are not alone. As a matter of fact, hundreds if not thousands of women worldwide are now enjoying its the benefits. They are more confident, happier, and prettier than what they were. Undergoing a botox treatment is not hard.

Sadly, most resources online focus on the preparation stage. You can read through a hundred articles online on what to do before a procedure but you rarely see a piece that talks about what you need to do after botox. We believe this is basic human nature. Most people believe that because this manipulations are non-invasive, you can just go home and act like nothing happened. Well, this is true to a certain extent but there are still some things you should and should not do after botox.

What you shouldn’t do

Ask any good dermatologist about what you shouldn’t do after botox and the first answer would be – “Don’t ever rub your face for any reason.” This includes undergoing any form of facial massage. Doing any of these will result in the botox moving to unwanted areas. Depending on your sensitivity, the operation, and the environment you are in; rubbing your face after botox can be really tempting. Just make sure you keep a level head so you won’t forget that doing so will not only defeat the whole point of having the botox treatment but it will also cause damage that may be irreparable.

It should also be a thing to note that because your face is a bit sensitive after the treatment, you might want to change the way you sleep or at least be wary of the position. As much as possible, don’t sleep on your face. Sleeping on your face will increase the chances of the botox moving away from the target areas.

Avoiding strenuous activities and exercise is a good idea after having a botox treatment. There are no studies to prove that this can affect the treatment, it’s just a good way to ensure that you don’t experience any negative effects. Avoiding alcohol, ibuprofen, and other kinds of painkillers is also another way for you to reduce risks of complication.

Lastly, you might also want to refrain from undertaking other forms of skin manipulation right after a procedure. This includes microdermabrasion, electrolysis, or even laser hair removal.

All in all, there is one thing you have to remember after treatment. Keep anything away from your face. This is not to say that you can’t gently massage your face so the botox can work its way into your facial muscles.

Arsenault Dermatology is an excellent, multi-service facility with friendly, capable staff and skilled physicians. I see Dr. Dana Ellis; she is thoroughly eagle-eyed in her exams, like a magician when removing unwanted skin defects, and most importantly, she treats the whole person in front of her, not just the problem. Overall, she is highly professional, exceedingly personable, and I am pleased to have found both her and this practice.

At my visit to Arsenault Dermatology, I was greeted by my Dr's assistant, John, a lovely gentleman who was very sweet and calming. We spoke and he answered all the questions he could and then Dr. Kellsey knocked and entered and we spoke about the procedure to remove my precancerous area on my back. I felt no pain and she was marvelous ✨️ ❤️. In two weeks I return to get my stitches removed and then return in August to have another area removed. I can't say enough about how wonderful I was treated! Best dermatologist in Manatee County. Thank you both so much 💓. Sharon F Price

I highly recommend this practice. Firstly, the office and exam rooms are immaculate and the receptionists are friendly and welcoming. P.A., Kaitlin Vaughn, who I’ve been seeing monthly for growth removals does amazing work and has helped clear up my skin beautifully. She uses an instrument to freeze the growths and has left no scarring or marks. Further, I’ve never waited longer than 10 to 15 mins for my appointment which is always a plus. There are also many locations from which to choose.

Answered all my questions and gave me great suggestions on possible skin treatments for my face. Provided me with the names and info on Dr’s he would recommend for facial treatments which I will follow up with. I would recommend him to others looking for a dermatologist
