Until quite recently, double chin had been considered one of the top esthetical problems which are the most difficult to treat. This problem emerges due to aging, genetics, excess weight or any combination of these factors.
Fat deposits under the chin are very persistent. Often even the most professional massage, weight loss or targeted exercises could not help. Some people had to decide on liposuction; some people just gave up.
Luckily, we’re living in an age when a lot of medical and cosmetic treatments, that previously could be considered a miracle, are widely available. Kybella is a notable example of that kind of cosmetic treatments.
What is Kybella?
Kybella is the FDA-approved injectable treatment that is used to reduce excess submental fat that is made from synthesized deoxycholic acid, which naturally occurs in the human body and therefore is hypoallergenic. More detailed description of the drug >>
Am I a good candidate for Kybella?
Kybella is recommended for moderate to severe convexity. The results are most visible for people with moderate convexity. More fat requires more injections, but the maximum number of Kybella treatments per one person is strictly limited to six.
How is Kybella treatment performed?
The procedure is performed under the local anesthesia. The drug is injected directly into the area of subcutaneous fat of the chin. The procedure is perceived as mildly uncomfortable and quite quick by the most of our patients. It belongs to that kind of treatments that could be done at the dermatologist’s office on a lunch break.
Rehabilitation and downtime
You may experience swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area for few days, but you’ll don’t have to take a vacation or limit your normal daily activities.
Contraindications to Kybella treatment
Kybella injections are contraindicated for people with bleeding problems or those who take blood-thinning medications. Also, please make sure that you’ve informed your dermatologist about all medical and aesthetic interventions you’ve recently had or plan to have.
Please check the full prescribing information placed on the official Kybella website.
